Hi, I'm Shannon.

I'm a reading specialist with 30+ years helping parents raise confident, joyful readers from birth to age 10. I take the guesswork out of literacy with simple, research-backed plans so you can stop worrying and start seeing progress.

I know how overwhelming it can feel when a child struggles with reading—or when a parent doesn’t know how to help. As a literacy specialist and parent coach, I created Literacy Simplified to remove the confusion and give families a clear path forward.

Hi, I’m Shannon.

I’m here for the parent who can’t quite put their finger on it — but knows something about their child’s reading just isn’t clicking.

You might be worried about when they’ll start reading…

Or how to keep them from falling behind…

Or whether you’re doing “enough” at home.

I get it — because I’ve spent more than 30 years helping children from birth through age ten build the skills, confidence, and love of reading they need to thrive. And I know that behind every child’s literacy journey is a parent who cares deeply, but doesn’t always have a clear roadmap.

My mission? To take away the guessing, the guilt, and the overwhelm — and give you a simple plan that works.

Whether you:

  • Want a step-by-step system you can use at home

  • Need a professional assessment to see exactly where your child is

  • Or simply want to raise a kind, resilient, confident reader

  •

…you’ll find practical tools, research-backed strategies, and encouragement here — no jargon, no judgment.

And when you work with me, you’re not just helping your child — you’re also helping children around the world. Ten percent of every purchase supports global education, clean water, and anti-trafficking initiatives.

You’re not behind. Your child isn’t behind. You just need the right plan. And I’d be honored to help you find it.

Let's Get You  Started

Wondering what to do NOW and NEXT?

You don't have to figure it out alone. Let's find the best next step for your child's reading journey.
